SmartBolts® load indicating bolts incorporate a small, color-changing mircoindicator in the head of the bolt. The indicator will change color in response to changes in the stress or strain of the bolt.
CFR30 part 75 requires that tensionable bolts be checked for proper installed tension and monitored over the next 24 hrs. for loss or increase in tension. |

ROOF SEPARATION INSTRUMENTS
Roof separation instruments (extensometers) are used to monitor differential movement of roof, pillar, or floor horizons. They are customized to meet the mine’s needs for type of read-out or indication. They include “flagging” devices to notify anyone within site of the instrument that a pre-determined amount of movement has occurred as well as “data” devices that indicate movement in units of 0.001”. These devices can also be fitted with potentiometers for remote readings using a standard ohm or multi-meter. The maximum number of horizons that can be monitored is (3). The anchor systems include ¼” aluminum rods (user specified section lengths) and a spring steel anchor sized for the specific diameter hole being used.

ROOM CONVERGENCE INSTRUMENTS
These instruments are used to monitor the total closure between roof and floor. Used in conjunction with extensometers, they can be used to calculate the amount of pillar squeeze within a localized area. They are similar in design to the extensometers, but they are mounted onto a “pogo-stick” assembly. They can be permanently affixed to one location or they can be used as the measuring device for multiple pre-established locations.
